They have forgotten their 14-year-old son Harrison has been arrested for being too handsome, too smart, and too strong. In this rather short story, George and Hazel Bergeron are watching a ballet on television. ![]() ![]() ![]() Stronger people are weighed down, talented people are made less talented, and intelligent people have to wear earplugs that make various kinds of noises to distract them from thinking deeply. Kurt Vonnegut imagines everyone is not only equal under the law but handicapped to be made equal in all ways. “Harrison Bergeron” is a political satire set in the year 2081. ![]()
